The Baltimore Orioles won 91 games this season, and for much of the second half, it felt like a disappointment. At any point in the previous 40 years, that sentence would’ve been absurd to write about this franchise.

James McCann hit a three-homer and Heston Kjerstad went deep to launch the Baltimore Orioles into the postseason with a 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins that completed a three-game sweep.

Instead of finishing off that sweep, the Twins finished the season 12-27 — just one game better than the historically bad Chicago White Sox in that span and third-worst in MLB — going from a better-than 90% chance to make the playoffs to finishing fourth in the American League Central Division and four games out of a playoff spot.
