Voters in Northern Kentucky overwhelmingly rejected a proposed amendment to the state's constitution that would have allowed state lawmakers to give public money to private schools – and the rest of the state looks like it's headed in the same direction.

Kentucky voters approved an amendment to the state Constitution that further prohibits people who are not U.S. citizens from voting in Kentucky elections on Tuesday. Amendment 1 specifies, “No person who is not a citizen of the United States shall be allowed to vote in this state.

Kentucky voters were asked whether they support amending the state's constitution that would change who can vote in the state's elections.

Amendment 1 had overwhelming support from the GOP, while others noted that the language felt redundant due to state and federal voting requirements.
