Happy Joe's unveils new 'Pizza Burgers' inspired by its popular pies The new menu item is turning the pizza parlor's most popular pizzas into burgers, using the same toppings found on its pizza menu.

Joe's is in the midst of updating its salad bar, as well as its general menu. The pizza place will offer daily specials, including deals on Take-N-Bake pizzas, nacho dishes and sub sandwiches.

It was a far cry from the trauma Joe’s faced a year ago, when it was destroyed by a fire. Owner Gennaro Bubba, who owned the restaurant for about 22 years, rebuilt and reopened in April.

Joe Trupiano opened the first Joe’s Pizza & Pasta in 1972 in Olney, but it didn’t become a chain until the family expanded 27 years later with a second restaurant in Effingham.
