Defenseman Kevin Korchinski and forward Frank Nazar, two highly rated Chicago Blackhawks prospects, will start their seasons with the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs after they were among the latest cuts from training camp Wednesday.

The Chicago Blackhawks assigned forward Frank Nazar and defenseman Kevin Korchinski to their top minor league affiliate on Wednesday.

The two prospects didn't play well enough in the preseason to convince the Hawks' front office that they wouldn't benefit from some seasoning in Rockford.

The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned two of their top prospects to their AHL affiliate Rockford IceHogs. Forward Frank Nazar and defensemen Kevin Korchinski and Louis Crevier were sent to the AHL. Korchinski was selected seventh overall in the 2022 draft, Nazar 13th. Crevier was a seventh round selection in 2020.
