The nominees for this year's European Film Awards have been unveiled, with "Emilia Pérez," "The Substance" and "The Room Next Door" all up for best European film. Movies also in the running for the ceremony's top award - which was expanded this year to include documentaries and animated features - are Lina Soualem's "Bye Bye Tiberias";

This 37th awards ceremony will be the last to take place in December with the dates shifting to mid-January, starting with the 39th edition in 2026.

Films like "The Substance," "Flow," "No Other Land," "Vermiglio," and "The Girl with the Needle" also had strong showings with nods in multiple categories.

Emilia Pérez and The Room Next Door have emerged as the front-runners for the European Film Awards 2024, with four nominations apiece. The nominations for the main categories of this year’s awards, which take place on December 7 in Lucerne, were announced this morning by the European Film Academy.
