ATHENS, Ga. — A long-time ursine resident of the Bear Hollow Zoo in Athens has died. DJ, an American Black Bear, was put to sleep Friday morning by veterinary staff at the age of 22.

Located at 293 Gran Ellen Drive in Athens, Bear Hollow Zoo is home to about 50 non-releasable native Georgia animals, including black bears, owls, bobcats, and reptiles.
