Captive-bred axolotls come in a variety of colors and color patterns including leucistic, albino, melanoid, copper, and even the GFP glowing axolotls.

There are also albino axolotls but Lucite, or Lucy for short, have dark colored eyes unlike the bright red eyes of an albino. The library’s axolotl is a Lucite, and was bred in and for captivity.
