New England North West residents see some of the biggest snowfalls across the region, with dozens of warnings issued.

The record 10-inch (25-centimeter) snowfall in New Orleans was more than double what Anchorage, Alaska, has received since the beginning of December, the National Weather Service said.

It rarely was too cold to snow. It's not a record deep snowpack, mind you. That goes to 1972, where 94 cm accumulated on the ground.

The nearby city of Pensacola recorded 22.6 cm (8.9 in.) of accumulation, nearly quadrupling the airport’s previous snowfall record of 5.8 cm (2.3 in.) set back in March 1954.

In some cases, it has led to huge gaps in the data on snow trends. Cartwright, a coastal community in southern Labrador, had a manual weather station that recorded snow levels since 1934.
