ROARING SPRING, Pa. — PennStress, in Blair County, is making 21 concrete beams that will change the Fern Hollow Bridge from a steel K-bridge before it fell earlier this year into a concrete bridge.

"Superload" trucks have finished delivering beams weighing more than 100 tons to the Regent Square side of the Fern Hollow Bridge construction site. The final beam made its way to Pittsburgh Tuesday.

The beam, measuring about 115 feet in length, was hoisted up via a crane and attached on the Iowa side of the bridge, near Grant St. It's the last of hundreds of similar beams to be installed.
