Suffering a hip or spine fracture can significantly increase the odds of an early death in people aged 50 and over, according to a new study by Canadian researchers.
Nearly 25 per cent of Canadian men and women over 50 who break a hip die within five years of the injury, and more needs to be done to reduce the likelihood of the fractures, researchers say.
