NEW YORK (AP) — Robin Walter’s “Little Mercy,” a debut collection of verse that celebrates the natural world, has won the 2024 Academy of American Poets’ First Book Award.

Born on December 15, 1933, in Portland, Michigan, she was the daughter of Alfred R. and Dorothy Dilley. Betty attended Walter French Academy before graduating from Holt High School.
