Built by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd. in England, the Viscount became the world’s first turboprop airliner and first turbine-powered aircraft to enter scheduled service in North America.

The Viscount was a real game-changer when it debuted in 1948. It was the first turboprop plane to haul passengers, which was a big deal for British aviation company Vickers-Armstrongs.
