Because the inverting input is at virtual ground, the output of the inverting op amp is V OUT = −IR2 = −V IN R2/R1. Thus, the gain of the inverting op-amp circuit is −R2/R1.
Non-inverting form: (Inputs reversed in Fig. 2) V IN connects to the amplifier non-inverting (+) input and V REF connects to the inverting (−) input. If V IN > V REF, the output goes high.
