Memorabilia from nearly 30 years ago were in danger of lying under the ground forever due to a chain of circumstances.

They were in elementary school when they buried a time capsule. Fast forward 50 years and former Kerrisdale Elementary School students cracked open the treasure they stowed away so long ago.

Former student Michelle Younan Wahalathanthrige, who first met her now-husband in Ferranti's Grade 7 class, said making the time capsule was her fondest memory of that school year.
