Last year in London, The Picture of Dorian Gray was adored by critics and audiences alike and earned Snook a 2024 Best Actress Olivier Award and a Best Costume Design Olivier Award for Marg Horwell.

Though the plot focuses on aesthetic beauty, the set lacked it. Not much effort was devoted to the design of Dorian’s living quarters, which held plastic picnic chairs and a folding table.

Snook’s Dorian, though, has no sex appeal, and the sexual tension between Dorian, Basil, and Henry — the core triangular relationship of the text — does not come across.
