The Mega Millions jackpot reset to $20 million after a ticket in California had the numbers to claim a $1.22 billion prize in Friday's draw.

A Mega Millions ticket worth an estimated $1.22 billion was sold in Cottonwood, California, for the drawing Friday night.

“We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as holiday gifts, and what a gift that would turn out to be if you ended up with a ticket worth a $1.15 billion jackpot,” Joshua Johnston, lead director for the Mega Millions Consortium, said in a news release before the jackpot rose again to $1.22 billion.

The Mega Millions jackpot has reached $825 million, continuing to increase with each drawing as no winners have been announced for the grand prize. The last drawing was on Tuesday, but there were no Mega Million jackpot or second-prize winners, according to the Texas Lottery website. However, there were 130,400 winners for the other numbers called.
