The zoo releases video of staff vaccinating animals against COVID-19. Staff say they have 120 animals to vaccinate, and that the process is entirely “voluntary” on behalf of the animal.
The zoo noted that although it has many outdoor animal exhibits, many COVID-19 susceptible animals are kept indoors and as the weather cools, more visitors will be attracted to the indoor locations.
Zoo animals susceptible to COVID-19 include big cats such as lions and tigers; great apes such as gorillas and chimpanzees and members of the mustelid family, such as otters and ferrets.
