Texas is set to execute Steven Nelson by lethal injection on Wednesday for the 2011 murder of beloved pastor Clint Dobson, who was just beginning his ministerial career.

Nelson, 32, started his career with the Chiefs as a third-round pick in 2015. He appeared in all 17 games with 16 starts for the Texans in 2023, his second year with the club.

Nelson, 37, was convicted of the 2011 murder of the Rev. Clint Dobson in a robbery that turned fatal inside Dobson's own church, NorthPointe Baptist just west of Dallas in Arlington, Texas.
