At Star Wars Celebration 2025, Lucasfilm announced its next Disney+ series would be an animated offering all about Darth Maul and his nefarious underworld adventures.

Among the announcements so far at Star Wars Celebration 2025, Maul has caught many off guard. Featuring Sam Witwer in the lead role, the series will involve the evil force-user taking on a protegé.

Darth Maul first appeared in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) and went on to become an important and popular character. He will now headline the new animated series for the streamer.
