Bonnie H. Cordon was inaugurated Friday as the 10th president of Southern Virginia University, a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Shenandoah Valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Beginning with 74 students in 1996, now the university now has an enrollment of 600 students representing 48 states and 10 foreign countries. As of May 5, 2003 the university was fully accredited.
