Joel Smithers, a former Martinsville-based doctor, is facing a new sentencing after he was found guilty of hundreds of drug charges.After 16 hours of deliberation, a jury found Smithers guilty on one count of maintaining a place for the purpose of illegally distributing controlled substances and 466 counts of illegally prescribing Schedule II controlled substances.
