The Lord of the Rings: Gollum plays into the split-personality element of Gollum/Smeagol. In the game, players will be faced with the struggle in the creature's mind between Gollum and Smeagol.

Many of these actions are Gollum’s and not Smeagol’s, but the treachery and malice he demonstrates is indistinguishable between the two, and thus they are both at least partly responsible.

After Aragorn captures him, Gollum recounts to Gandalf his escape from Barad-dûr. He works as a slave, all while struggling to maintain mental balance between his Smeagol persona and his Gollum one.

Did Gollum’s death come about because he was irreversibly bound to the Ring, or was it inevitable after Sam’s gruff accusations against the creature?
