According to HI-EMA, at around 10:20 a.m. a resident reported to police a vandalized siren box, wide open with the siren sounding.
The Highland Fire Department resumed testing their tornado sirens in April after a tornado tore through town in March, but whether it had been prior to that storm is doubtful.
The siren some Wichitans heard Wednesday night was apparently the result of a glitch. The siren sounded about 9:20 p.m. at Fairway Boulevard and Lake Park Drive in the southwest part of town.
