The oath is based on a set of core values we try to achieve every day. As a scout, I need to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. The Scout Law has 12 points.

Beginning with the Scout Oath and Scout Law, the Boy Scouts of America is infused with character-building activities that allow youth to apply abstract principles to daily situations.

The Boy Scout Oath states, “I will” and the Girl Scout Promise says, “I will try”; The Boy Scout Law states, “A Scout is…” and the Girl Scout Law says, “I will do my best to be…”.

The ceremony was led by fellow scout Stuart Jenick, and assistant scoutmaster Scott Allen administered the Eagle Scout Oath. Jenick talked of the sacrifices Prouty had to make to get the award.
