Niantic, the company behind the popular augmented reality game Pokémon Go, is looking to sell its game development business, Bloomberg reported.

Niantic, the company that developed the wildly popular augmented reality (AR) game Pokémon Go, is reportedly considering selling its video games — and according to a source speaking to Bloomberg, the deal could be worth just $3.

Pokémon Go developer Niantic is reportedly in talks to sell its video game division to Saudi-owned Scopely for $3.5 billion. As first reported by Bloomberg, the sale would likely include Pokémon Go, the hit augmented-reality mobile game that sends players out into the real world to collect Pokémon.

Pokémon Go developer Niantic is reportedly considering selling its video game portfolio to Savvy Games Group subsidiary, Scopely. Whilst the deal has yet to be confirmed and neither Niantic nor Scopely have talked publicly about the deals, Bloomberg claims the sale may include Niantic's tentpole augmented reality game, Pokémon Go.

Niantic Inc., the company behind the 2016 hit Pokémon Go, is in talks to sell its video-game business to Saudi Arabia-controlled Scopely Inc., according to several people familiar with the discussions.

A potential sale would come after Niantic and Savvy, Scopely’s parent company owned by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, inked a deal last summer to expand Pokémon Go ’s reach in the region through local investments.
