What is The Lord of the Rings' Eye Of Sauron?
The Eye of Sauron's origin and connection to Sauron have been a central part of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Eventually, Gandalf the Grey made a journey to Dol Guldur to learn of the Necromancer's secrets. Not wanting Gandalf to learn of his presence, Sauron fled Dol Guldur and started to build up his army.
He has also taken the form of a necromancer in The Hobbit films when hiding out in Dol Guldur, and of course would later take on his infamous "Eye of Sauron" form during the War of the Ring.
Sauron's identity was a mystery throughout Season 1, only to reveal in the final episode that the self-proclaimed King of the Southlands, Halbrand, was actually the Dark Lord.
The epic battle, where Isildur first cut the ring off Sauron’s hand and Sauron was taken down by Gil-galad and Elendil, took place in the Dead Marshes, which is North of the fortress of Dol Guldur.
