Samsung has announced its new monitor lineup for 2025, including the Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF), which is said to be the world's first 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate. This announcement comes alongside (or even before) similar reveals from other manufacturers like MSI, which also unveiled a monitor with similar specifications.

Based on Samsung's fourth-generation QD-OLED technology, the G81SF is a 4K monitor with a 3840x2160 pixel resolution, a response time of 0.03 milliseconds, and a sharpness of more than 160 pixels per inch for better text legibility and image clarity. It also sports an anti-glare coating and rear-core lighting with 52 color options.

Samsung Display has the first OLED panel with 4K resolution on less than 30 inches. Asus and MSI also use the new version.

When Samsung unveiled the world’s first 27-inch 4K gaming OLED monitor on Thursday, Engadget’s Igor Bonifacic predicted that other vendors would soon follow suit. (After all, Samsung is also the biggest supplier of OLED gaming monitor panels.

I was really expecting Samsung to go bigger with its OLED gaming monitors this year. Not so, at least not yet. Instead, the company is focusing on blazing-fast speed. Like MSI and Asus previously announced,

CES is happening next week and MSI has already announced its monitor line-up. This includes the new MPG272URX QD-OLED monitor which is a smaller version of the 32-inch monitor with a 4K resolution, 240hz refresh rate and a super impressive 166PPI.

With CES 2025 just around the corner, multiple gaming monitor brands are unleashing their wares for the new year. We've already seen some 500+ Hz OLED panels. Next up is a new generation of 4K 27-inch OLEDs.
