The roudned corners of the icon alone are a fresh design – one that feels a lot like One UI 7 and iOS – but we also see the influence of Material 3 Expressive when certain conditions are met.

If you ask me, Samsung’s misstep with the One UI 7 battery icon shows that Apple made the right call by choosing to ramp up the realism with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26.

As rumored, the new icon is color-coded, lighting up green while your device is plugged in, yellow while actively in battery saver mode, and red after hitting 20 percent.

A fresh leak has now shown what the updated battery icon will look like, and it’s quite different from what we’re used to. Right now, Android 16 doesn’t look very new in the beta versions.
