There are two species of salvia that are the most reliable and available to buy. Salvia greggii, known as Autumn sage, is heat-loving and frost tender.

The cherry sage or autumn sage, Salvia greggii, is native to Texas and blooms nonstop from late spring until frost. It, too, is a deep red with other colors now available.

Autumn sage (Salvia greggii) is shrubby, brilliantly colored and drought tolerant. It blooms throughout the summer and heavily in autumn. This sage is projected to reach 2-3 feet tall.

Protect cyclamen from temperatures below 30 degrees if you want them to keep blooming into early spring. Salvia greggii, autumn sage, is available in several colors.
