A state assessment found rodents on the sprawling Santa Fe, New Mexico, property of Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, but concluded their main quarters had not been infested.

The report comes weeks after New Mexico's medical investigator ruled Betsy Arakawa died of hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare disease linked to rodents.

New Mexico had the highest number over that time, at 122. The disease is also contractible in other countries and on other continents, but most cases are in western states in the USA.
