A collared gray wolf released in Colorado in January as part of the state’s historic reintroduction effort died in Rocky Mountain National Park this week, wildlife officials said Thursday.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said Thursday that a female gray wolf has died.Biologists received a mortality alert for wolf 2514-BC on Sunday, and with help from the National Park Service confirmed the mortality took place in Rocky Mountain National Park.

More than 60 acres of some of Rocky Mountain National Park's most heavily trafficked terrain was set aflame intentionally Tuesday.
