The Width should be 1.5 pt. Select the Text Options tab and Select Text Fill. Select Gradient. Where you see Gradient Stops remove the two Gradient Stop buttons in the middle; Leave only two.

Then click OK. The shape has a gradient fill. How to Pattern Fill Shapes in Publisher On the Insert tab, click the Shapes button and select a shape. A Shape Format tab will appear.

Choose Gradient Fill in the Fill section. From the Preset gradients, choose Top Spotlight–Accent 5. You might want to experiment a bit and choose another gradient, which is fine.
