US astronomers have discovered a monolithic, wave-shaped gaseous structure - the largest seen in our galaxy - made up of interconnected stellar nurseries, or star-forming regions.
The wave-shaped structure is about 9,000 light-years long, 400 light-years wide and is located 500 light-years from our Sun, which is relatively close in terms of astronomical distances.
