At the 1988 vice presidential debate, then Sen. Bentsen and his opponent, Dan Quayle, were asked what plan they had in mind if they were to become president.

Usually, the debates are hosted throughout October by the Commission on Presidential Debates. But after some social media goading, the two candidates opted two debates, the first on June 27, 2024.
