It was built in 1854 by Dr. Lemuel Lovett Alston as a vernacular style, Greek Revival I-House called Plantation Plain. It is one of only four examples of an I-house to survive intact in Clarke County.
One man was doing that Friday night. But he wasn't in a beautifully restored antebellum "bed and breakfast home." He was in a rundown dilapidated pre-Civil War plantation mansion.
