A PAR file would allow the complete archive to be reconstructed if one of the files became corrupt. PAR files can also be used to verify the integrity of the complete archive. See Usenet.

You'll have to grab their respective apps to use the files. SmartPAR works for .par files, and I believe .r00 files are part of a .rar archive, so you'll need a program like WinRAR. Quote Report B ...
