A quick search for a PlayStation Vita memory card on a retailer like Amazon shows a price tag in the hundreds. In fact, some of those cards can cost as much as $245 for a 32GB card.

The current $250 version of the PS Vita doesn't come with a memory card, although for a limited time, the $300 3G-enabled version of the hardware will pack in an 8GB card.

For the first time the content of a PS Vita memory card have been dumped and made publicly known. While this in itself doesn’t help to hack the Vita, it does open up for many more possibilities.

Players place a microSD card into MemCard Pro’s slot. The PlayStation memory card adapter will then make and maintain virtual memory card. The official conversion rate is 8,192 memory cards for 1GB.

The fact that PlayStation Vita lacks internal storage sounds bizarre, particularly in a world where the $199 iPhone 4S comes with 16GB of memory. At the same time, it's typical of Sony.
