Accra, Jan 19, GNA – Anglogold Ashanti says calm has been restored after a deadly shootout between a group of illegal miners and military men at the company’s Obuasi concession on Saturday night.

AngloGold Ashanti, listed in Johannesburg, South Africa, owns the Obuasi and Iduapriem mines, which produced over 490,000oz of gold last year. The company has not yet commented on the incident.
