VICTORIA — Leaders from Washington state and British Columbia say they have reached an agreement to work together on redeveloping a flooding prevention plan and response for the Nooksack River.

However, no actions were taken. The group, called the Nooksack River International Task Force, went dormant in about 2011 and was only recently resurrected at the request of the B.C. government.

Water with high counts of bacteria flowing through the Nooksack River in Washington state is coming from multiple sources in B.C., including an Abbotsford compost facility, the province says.
