Netflix is raising prices once again for its customers, as other streaming services are doing the same. Experts say these companies are passing the costs of creating original content down to its customers — and many are not happy.

Netflix has increased its subscription prices in the UK, after it raised its charges in the US, Canada, Argentina and Portugal last month. The new UK price for a Standard subscription without adverts,

The cost of the streaming service has increased by as much as £24. Netflix has updated the prices on its website. For users who are subscribed to the standard tier, the cost has jumped up by £2 to £12.99 per month. This is the streamer's most popular plan and it previously cost £10.99.

Some Netflix fans in the UK are not happy with the streaming service's decision to increase its price plans yet again. The company offers three plans to its customers, which are 'standard with adverts', 'standard', and 'premium'. And now the monthly cost of each plan has gone up and users have issued complaints on social media.

Netlifx has hiked its subscription prices without adverts by £2, or 18%, to £12.99 a month for British users. It comes as the streaming service achieved record audience figures in 2024. A Netflix spokesperson said: ‘We will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can reinvest to further improve Netflix”.
