Marianne McKenna of KPMB Architects has received a 2005 Canadian Architect Award of Excellence for the Royal Conservatory of Music's TELUS Centre for Performance and Learning.

Since it was founded in 1904, the Conservatory offered free space to aspiring young musicians through its music school, with private lessons to McGill students and the local community.

The Conservatory was founded in 1904, and since then has seen thousands of students pass through its halls. Among them is Raya Badran, who now works as a piano teacher in Montreal.
