Kiara is not a new character created for this movie, though; she served as the protagonist for 1998’s direct-to-video sequel The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.

The Lion King 1 1/2 was not an attempt to build on the original Simba storyline. It didn't try to overwrite the things that happened before, nor did it try to rewrite the history of key characters.

The 1994 flick has spawned two sequels —"The Lion King II: Simba's Pride" in 1998 and "The Lion King 1 1/2" in 2004. Both of these spinoffs are available to stream on Disney+.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature schtick.

Right now, “Mufasa: The Lion King” is only playing in theaters, so the only way to watch the movie is to buy a movie ticket. But the film will eventually be streaming on Disney+.
