The 5.0km Paddle Races on Saturday are for anyone with a stand up paddleboard, surf ski or surf rescue board willing to take on a 5km out-and-back course starting and finishing at Mooloolaba Beach.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the man was pulled from the surf in a critical condition at 6.47am, and his death was likely a medical episode. The incident is being treated as non-suspicious.
