A houseplant mix works fine. Pick a pot with large drainage holes, as money trees don't like their roots to sit in water and easily develop root rot if proper drainage is not provided.

The money tree also needs well-draining soil to avoid root rot, soil that is neutral to slightly acidic, with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5.
