Home interior and decor chains Bowring and Bombay, which combined have 81 stores in Canada, have obtained protection from creditors under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.

Privately held Bowring has been operated by Mississauga-based Tereve Holdings Ltd. since 1993, when its owner Royal Canadian Securities Ltd. acquired the chain from U.S.-based Hallmark Cards Inc.
