Lisa Marie Young went missing over Canada Day weekend in 2002 at the age of 21. Cyndy Hall, a friend of Young, says the signs, which were stolen from Bowen Road, hold sentimental value.
The signs that have gone missing in the past few weeks indicate speed limits, railway crossings, road names and even a new “stop sign-ahead” warning.
The missing road signs include Duck Pond, Moore Dam, Remick, Hale, Shadow Lake, Valley View, and Kidder Roads, as well as Moore View Lane. They say the cost to replace the signs is more than $2,000.
“The theft of just one stop sign could result in such tragic consequences,” Staff Sgt. Jim Griepsma says of the rash of missing road signs in the region’s north end.
