For example, the picture above is a 3-D printed replica of a Companion Cube from the game Portal, which was created in Minecraft, then printed. I think this is a pretty cool project.

At least, I couldn’t before now. Some students at MIT’s Media Lab have put together a tool called Minecraft.Print () that lets you directly output an area of your Minecraft world to a 3D printer.

Other tools like Minecraft.print () have performed a similar task before now, but Mineways is the first to export with full color.

Now 3D-printing software called Minecraft.Print () is letting the game’s fans bring their creations into the real world – albeit on a much smaller scale.

Minecraft.Print () then outputs a standard model file for printing to either a professional 3D printer or (MakerBot or RepRap). Now that you've printed out your creation, it's time to show it off.
