Last month, Microsoft confirmed an odd problem with the Photos app crashing in certain scenarios in Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2. Now, there is an official workaround for the affected customers.
The feature seems to be disabled by default. Owing to this, one needs to follow a needlessly painful process to enable OCR in the Photos app. Not sure why Microsoft is doing this, though.
If your device has updated the Microsoft Photos app from the Windows store on or after June 4, 2024 (version 2024.11050.29009.0 and above), you might face issues starting the application.
