Microsoft’s “new” Outlook app has received a ton of criticism as it doesn’t quite live up to its predecessor. Even worse, the new version of Outlook comes bundled on new PCs.
Microsoft is making Outlook for Mac free to use today. Outlook is now available free in Apple’s App Store, and you no longer need a Microsoft 365 subscription or Office license to use it.
Download the new Outlook app for Windows Outlook app for Windows is now available here in the Microsoft Store. It will be pre-installed on Windows 11 feature update, 23H2 and later.
Microsoft will retire the Windows Mail and Calendar applications on Windows 10 and Windows 11 at the end of the year, first auto-migrating users to the new Outlook for Windows app in August.
That means Microsoft thinks the app is ready for prime-time use and is removing the “new” badge from the app’s icon and name. It’s now just Outlook, the definitive article.
