The Mandalorian showrunner Jon Favreau has defended the decision to make Bo-Katan Kryze the new leader of Mandalore, explaining that Din Djarin was not supposed to be an "Aragorn" for Star Wars.

The Mandalorian’s third season might not have been perfect, but its finale — The Return — perfectly captured all of the big ideas that made this chapter compelling.

It took all of Season 3 for “The Mandalorian” to find its way back to itself, which is to say, back to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his child, Grogu.
